Jayne
Sparks, a potty-mouthed, rebellious seventeen-year-old and her best friend, shy
and bookish Tony Green, have a pretty typical high school existence, until
several seemingly unrelated incidents converge, causing a cascade of events
that change their lives forever. Jayne and Tony, together with a group of
runaway teens, are hijacked and sent into a forest, where nothing and no one
are as they seem. Who will emerge triumphant? And what will they be when they
do?
MY THOUGHTS…
Jayne Sparks is a
seventeen year old teenager - a teenager who, like most teenagers, hates school
and has a sharp tongue. Her best friend, Tony Green, runs away with her and
they join a gang of runaways. When they all go to an interview for a 'test',
they have no idea that they will end up in the middle of a forest, full of
unknown challenges. Will they all get out? And will they all be the same as
they were when they went in?
I found this book thrilling and enticing. I was hooked as soon as I started.
My favourite character in the book was Becky, one of the runaways in the gang. She seemed like a good friend to have and I found myself wishing that she was my friend.
Although the book was one of the best that I have read in a long time, I found it slightly disjointed at the start, within the first few pages. I found myself having to re-read those few pages over to try to make sense of them. I can easily say that the writing got better as I got into the book.
That being said, I read it within two days and found it hard to put it down.
I Highly Recommend this book to everyone and can't wait to read book two.
